Greetings from President & CEO

Our company, JCGEC, has a very close relationship with NGO JCCEA with the official authorization from the Royal Government of Cambodia, and we are planning to establish services in order to deepen the friendship between Cambodia and Japan and to contribute to Cambodia’s further economic development.

The Kingdom of Cambodia is a developing country with the 120th GPD rank with room for improvement, and the GDP growth in 2013 is forecasted to be 6.5% and it is indeed a very promising and hopeful market with the potential for remarkable development.

Cambodia was behind other ASEAN countries, negatively impacted by its long-lasted civil warfare until the 1990’s, however, these days the country is comprised of citizens with motivations for learning and has grown steadily in various fields such as tourism, construction, garment manufacture and agriculture.

Cambodia has many attractions. For example, firstly, 70% of the population is comprised of citizens under 30 year olds. Currently the birth rate is high and the population will continue to increase, and the country is expected to become more and more vital. Secondly, both the Tonle Sap lake and the Mekong river carry nutrients and the land is very flat throughout the country, consequently having optimal conditions as an agricultural country. This makes Cambodia one of a few countries that may possess an environment for the world’s food reserve.

Thirdly, the country is located at the center in the ASEAN region and is a pivotal logistics base in the Mekong region with the growing economy. The Kunming-Bangkok Expressway between Yunnan Province, China and Bangkok, Thailand; East-West Economic Corridor which connects the Kunming-Bangkok Expressway and Ho Chi Minh City; and Southern Economic Corridor which connects Ho Chi Minh and Bangkok through Phnom Penh will transform the region into a distribution network with the promising economic growth.

These elements contain conditions more than enough to develop the Cambodian economy that have been delayed. I believe this is a market where there is potential for business chance in all the industries, that is the Kingdom of Cambodia. Considering the present state of Cambodia and its future potential capacity, by becoming a business incubator in all of the business categories JCGEC will contribution to the economic growth in Cambodia.

For the short- to mid-term goals, JCGEC will initiate agri-business as the top-priority agenda while supporting the Cambodian government’s agenda to export one million tons of milled rice by the year 2015.

Moreover, we hope to realize industrialization of agriculture in the future, in order to be the world’s food provider.
